Our ethos encourages a happy, friendly and respectful environment in which the children can learn and develop. Our staff are encouraged to continually develop their own skills and learning so that they can provide high standards of care in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines.
We have three members of staff who have undertaken training in Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) and all staff are Makaton trained. We have experience of working with individual children who have a range of different personal and educational needs. We work in partnership with the local authority to support the needs of individual children when required.
We are able to provide a positive ratio of staff to children meeting the EYFS statutory requirements. We also offer work experience placements for students and invite parents to join in with sessions.
Every child and family has a key person who maintains an individual child's 'learning journey' record for each child in the Preschool. We encourage parents to contribute to their child's learning journey and parents are free to look at their own child's records at any time.
We are especially proud of our gentle, inclusive and welcoming approach. We strive to provide an environment in which children can thrive, where family members are important and the child is at the heart of all we do.
We are located next to Risby Primary School and though we are not formally connected to the school, the preschool and school have a good relationship and enjoy regular contact. Special attention is paid to the induction of the children that are due to start at Risby CEVCP school each September to ensure transitions are smooth from our setting to the school. Please note that attendance at the preschool does not guarantee a place at Risby Primary School.
Our setting is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Children, young people and adults at all times and expects everybody working or visiting this setting to share this commitment.
